It's new and it's called "Batter Up Bistro" at 621 E. Michigan Avenue here in Lansing.  Batter Up offers breakfast and lunch, including fresh baked breads and pastries, soups and sandwiches.

The eatery's doors opened to customers earlier this month, offering an interior that's vintage inspired and homey, and a menu that lives up to its name.

The interior renovation took a year and baseball never figured into the equation according to the new owner.  "Batter Up" is a play on baking, not sports, so sitting just a short walk from the home of the Lansing Lugnuts is just a happy coincidence.

The restaurant will offer baking and cooking classes, and the space will be available to rent for evening and weekend events.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
