The process of collecting tree limbs and brush that fell during a brief July 8 storm is just about complete in East Lansing, but Meridian Township residents  will hear wood chippers for the rest of the week.

Both communities were hit particularly hard.  Whole sections of trees fell into streets and residents yards.

East Lansing's environmental services administrator said that crews have made two passes through the city and all storm debris piled alongside curbs has been picked up.

Now the focus is on Meridian Township which contracted with a landscaping firm to collect branches and brush placed along neighborhood streets.  Work began on July 18.

There are separate crews assigned to the township's north and south sides.  Here's more information from the Lansing State Journal.
