In today's edition of the Lansing State Journal, more apartments will be built along the Grand River in downtown Lansing.

Gillespie Group is expanding the Marketplace Apartments, located at 313 N. Cedar St., to add 79 units along the riverfront.

Site preparation started last week for the five story, $11 million project.  The 65,000 square foot building will consist of micro, one and two bedroom apartments.  Micro apartments will have fold up Murphy beds.  Rent will range from $875 to $1,600.

The apartments will have a rooftop patio, workout facility and dog washing station.  "Downtown businesses need more people living downtown," said Bob Trezise, president and CEO of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership.
