If you are about to hit the road, you might see more State Police officers on the way to your Thanksgiving destination.

According to WILX-TV 10, not only will a lot of people be hitting the road, but the day before Thanksgiving is also one of the biggest nights of the year for bars and restaurants.

That's why State Police and local officers will be on alert.  Thanksgiving is the second deadliest holiday in Michigan for traffic crashes.  Last year, there were 11 fatalities.

If you are going out tonight, make sure you have a safe way to get home, whether that's a taxi, ride share service, or a designated sober driver.
