Q: Are there any pictures or recordings of when Elvis Presley and the Beatles met? How did they get along? Did Elvis like the Beatles?

A: Sadly, there are no pictures or recordings of the Beatles and Elvis together from that historic California meeting, which took place on Friday night, August 27, 1965. Why? It was all thanks to Elvis' manager, 'Colonel' Tom Parker, who was attempting to control the meeting; it was on his orders that no pictures or recordings were allowed. However, there ARE pictures that were taken by fans; when word leaked out about the get-together, fans hid in trees and took some snapshots of the vehicles arriving at Elvis' home in Bel-Air. The meeting was arranged while the Beatles were touring America during the summer of '65; Elvis was shooting a movie in Hollywood so the Beatles figured this would be the best time to meet their Rock & Roll idol. When the Beatles arrived, they were introduced to Elvis and then sat in a semi-circle around him, as if he were a god. After a long silence, Elvis broke the ice by saying, “What-the-hell, if you guys aren’t going to talk to me I’m going to my bedroom!” They all started laughing, eventually some guitars were brought out and they all jammed...even Ringo, who was relegated to playing drum beats on a piece of furniture. The whole event lasted approximately three hours. As for if Elvis liked the Beatles – it's been printed that he didn't but he was quoted as saying he did. He loved their music up until they became experimental, around the time of YELLOW SUBMARINE but he loved their early stuff. Of all the Beatles, Elvis really liked John Lennon the most; he also wondered why the Beatles had such bad teeth! He figured, “they make all that money so why don't they get their teeth fixed?” Years later, when asked about that meeting, Elvis claimed it never even happened. Decades later, Ringo revealed that he asked Elvis why he "didn't rock" like he used to.
