The haunting is rumor, but the events are absolutely true.

FIRST, THE STORY:
One night, a man and a girl were out near a 'lover's lane' area. The man began making advances to her, of which she rebuffed him over & over, not wanting anything to do with him. He got angry, kicked her out of the car, and slammed the car door; her long hair got caught in the door but he began driving away anyway. He dragged her up and down the road a few times until she was dead.

THE HAUNT:
If you drive up & down that road at night, you will hear the sounds of knocking on your vehicle, resembling the sounds her body was making, thumping against the automobile as she was being dragged repeatedly..... a sound so intense it makes you feel YOU are actually dragging somebody.

THE TRUTH OF THE STORY:
1) This tale REALLY happened, and was even related in an article in the Detroit News on June 12, 1962.
2) The girl was a babysitter who was being seduced by the man she was babysitting for.
3) She wasn't dragged by her hair, but by her dress that was caught in the door.
4) She was indeed dragged to her death.

WHERE IT HAPPENED:
In Grosse Isle, between Ferry Road and Island Boulevard. There is a roadway named Gage Avenue (which is believed to be the road she was dragged on) that leads into a heavily-wooded trail named 'Ferry Trail' that is occasionally used as a Lover's Lane (SEE THE THREE PICTURES BELOW). Keep in mind, this happened in 1962 and probably wasn't as heavily populated as it is now.

GO AHEAD...PAY A VISIT....drive up and down that street some evening or better yet, walk down that trail after Midnight.
