Several local people are worried about the negative impact the closing of McLaren's Greenlawn campus could have on the Old Everett area neighborhood.

McClaren Greater Lansing's hospital on Greenlawn Avenue is a 712,000 square foot giant.  It rises high above the small homes nestled next to it in a neighborhood east of Washington Avenue.

With plans to close the hospital, so intertwined with the residential area, it's understandable that nearby residents are worried about the future of the facility.

The Greenlawn Avenue hospital and the smaller, 322,000 square foot facility on Pennsylvania Avenue will close when McLaren opens a $450 million new hospital near Michigan State University's campus, planned for 2021.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
