A Costco store moved one step closer to realization this week.  The Meridian Township Board unanimously approved an amended agreement that allows East Lansing to rezone a 64.7 acre site at the southeast corner of Saginaw Street and Park Lake Road.

Township officials have said Costco would like to open the store by fall 2017.  Costco is proposing a 154,000 square foot warehouse, plus a tire facility and fueling station that would be built on roughly half the tract.

On Tuesday, the amended agreement tries hard to protect, and succeeds to a great degree, the neighbors of Meridian that are next to the Costco site.

There are 13 Costco stores in Michigan.  The closest one is in Green Oak Township, near Brighton. Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
