Officials with the Lansing Promise scholarship got some good news to start the week, a donation of more than $65,000 from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.

President and CEO of the Lansing Chamber presented Promise Zone Chair Kellie Dean with a check for $65,206 Monday morning, money raised through the Celebration of the Lansing Promise dinner in May, which was emceed by Magic Johnson.

The Lansing Promise scholarship program is available to students who live within the boundaries of the Lansing School District and graduate from one of the city's four high schools; Everett, Eastern, Sexton or Lansing Catholic.
