It's time to lace up your ice skates and head over to the outdoor skating rink in Washington Park.  The last time I went ice skating with my family, I was 16 years old.  We all had a blast.

The rink will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will close when temperatures get too warm.  It's free and open to all ages and levels.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor says It's great to have an amenity here, to have an open ice rink, to have a place where people can come.

Many people remember when there used to be both an open rink and a dome rink.  I certainly remember that.  We would all go ice skating and then drink hot chocolate to warm up after being on the ice so long.

The rink will not provide ice skates or concessions, and hockey playing is not allowed.  The rink is 55 by 90, and will be maintained each night.  For more about the ice rink at Washington Park, check out WILX New 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority.
