Well this hasn't happened for awhile.  Reports from up north say that Grand Traverse Bay has been declared as officially frozen over.  The bay is considered to be frozen when the West  Arm freezes to Power Island and this is for at least 24 hours.

You may think, of course its frozen, its up north Michigan in the winter.  But, in fact the Grand Traverse Bay has not frozen over since back in 2015.    Back then the Bay stayed frozen for 53 days.

Reports say this is only the 8th time the Bay has frozen over since 1990, which I'm sure makes Ice Fisherman very happy.

If you are looking for a silver lining in this, it means less water is evaporating from the bay this winter.

I have not spent much in Traverse City in the winter.....but LOVE it in  the summer.

With the water frozen, over the weekend it seemed to draw lots of people....Ice Fisherman, Ice Boaters ( is that a thing?) and folks just out for a walk on the frozen waters of Suttons Bay, all out for a bit of winter fun.
