Jesse Heikkinen, a Michigan State signee, got the call he was hoping to receive Wednesday night when the Detroit Tigers drafted him in the 36th round with the 1,085th overall pick.

I watched Heikkinen pitch at the Diamond Classic baseball tournament recently at Cooley Law School Stadium.  He is an outstanding baseball pitcher and I can see why the Tigers drafted him.

Heikkinen said, "It's an unreal feeling to have everything you've ever worked for accomplished.  It's just the beginning, but it's an amazing feeling."

Heikkinen helped Holt to a 30-win season that included the school's first ever regional title. Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
