The story about a local football team has gotten National attention.l

Four players from Lansing Catholic High School's football team have been benched because the student athletes planned to take a knee at tonight’s game during the National Anthem.

The Head Coach of the team Jim Ahern is benching the four players which includes the starting quarterback.   Both the Coach and the Lansing Catholic President Tom Maloney declined to comment.

The Lansing State Journal reported that a letter was sent home to parents regarding the matter.

Quarterback Michael Lynn 111 approached the school last week about wanting to protest by taking a knee and eventually an agreement was reached allowing the players to do so, but that agreement no longer appears to be valid.    Lynn 111said that this feels like oppression to him.  So instead of taking a knee, they will be benched.
