Gary Ford has been a fixture in downtown Grand Ledge for more than half a century.  Most of the time he's been at Ledge Clippers on East River Street,  just a short walk from the Grand Ledge Opera House.

Ford, 70, has cut hair for up to five generations of local families, as clients aged and brought their children into Ledge Clippers for their first haircut.

He kept the profession during a stint in the U.S. Navy, giving haircuts aboard two different aircraft carriers when he wan't working as a jet engine mechanic.

Saturday was Gary Ford's last official day of full time work.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
