According to WILX News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, General Motors says the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant is among a handful of plants that will take workers affected by the layoffs announced earlier this year.

GM says 2,800 U.S. hourly employees were impacted by the layoffs in plants in Michigan, Ohio, and Maryland.  The company says 1,200 workers are eligible to retire, 2,700 U.S. G.M. job opportunities are available, and 1,100 employees have already volunteered to transfer.

Of the 2,700 total jobs available at U.S. GM plants, the company has not said how many new jobs the Lansing Grand River plant will be able to support.  The plant is anticipating a new vehicle launch in 2019.
