GM Plans Over One Thousand Layoffs
General Motors made the announcement that they will be suspending work on the third shift at the Delta Township Assembly Plant, this move will cost over one thousand jobs.
The Layoff's will begin in May of this year. The Auto-maker announced last year that the manufacturing of the GMC Acaida will be built at the Spring Hill Tennessee Plant and as a result of that the production of the previous generation of Acadias at the Delta plant will stop in May so there will be no need for a third shift.
By suspending the third shift, around 1,100 GM workers will be facing layoff's. Notices were distributed to workers at the plant today.
The Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse will continue to be built at the Lansing Delta Township plant, with all new versions of those models being built locally this year.
