Famous Michigan Homicides That Have Not Been Forgotten
Murder and more specifically Serial Killers, are considered among the lowest members of society. Many of us feel so safe in Michigan, while hearing about the horrible and horrific crimes taking place in other parts of the country, but in Michigan, we have are own horrors.
Here are ten famous homicides that took place in Michigan, yes we have our share of notorious killers.
10 Paul Jaworski . He was a member of a gang known as the 'flatheads', a prohibition-era outfit. Jaworski was found guilty in 20 murders and died in the electric chair in Pennsylvania.
9 John Eric Armstrong. a former Navy sailor, husband, and father of two. Armstrong told the authorities that he strangled five prostitutes in the Detroit area and 11 others while he was stationed to an aircraft carrier in the Seattle area. those murders happened between 1992 - 1999. He was sentenced to life in prison.
8 Elias Abuelazam, The Flint Serial Killer or The Serial Slasher. Abuelazam went on a stabbing spree in Michigan, Virginia and Ohio between March 2009 and August 2010, killing 5 and injuring 18. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
7 John Norman Collins "The Ypsilanti Ripper" or "co-ed Killer". Collins, was at the center of a series of high profile homicides knows as the "Michigan Murders" that rocked the Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti areas in 1967 -1969. He was convicted on one murder, though it is suspected he is responsible for more.
6 Rudy Bladel aka"The Railway Sniper" . He was found guilty of killing between three and seven railroad workers in Michigan and Indiana between 1963 through 1978. He was apparently upset about the loss of his job as a railroad fireman.
5 Christopher James Dankovich. He was only 15 in 2008 when he stabbed his Mother 111 times. He won't be getting our of prison until he is in his 40's.
4 Juwan Knumar Deering. He was owed $200 dollars, so he doused a home full of children with charcoal lighter fluid and set the home ablaze killing 5 children. Juwan was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
3 Stephen Christopher Grant. Convicted of killing his wife and dismembering her body in 2007. It was a gruesome scene, but a good lawyer got the charge of first degree murder down to second degree, thus promising him a shorter sentence, he will spend 50 years in prison.
2 Andrew Kehoe, aka "The Bath School murder". Perhaps the deadliest massacre committed by one person . Kehoe killed 44 people. He bombed the school in Bath.
1 Robin Bashara, aka "Big Bob". This case gained national attention because of its salacious details involved. Partly because he hired a hit man to kill his wife. He was also responsible for hiring a hit man to kill the hit man.
The worst of all is Don Miller, the serial killer from the late 1970's, who could possible be set out on parole. He is serving time for a few of his crimes, but many believe he is responsible for many more. All the families involved in this case never want Miller to see the light of day.
