Workers continued to build up the inner walls of a 5,800 square foot, $2.1 million expansion at the Capital Area Humane Society.

According to the Lansing State Journal, the expansion will give the shelter dedicated animal space.  That area will increase the capacity of the shelter by allowing space for new and sick animals and ones needing to be quarantined.

The current main housing area for animals will be exclusively for animal adoption after the expansion is complete.

The addition will also include an outdoor area for cats and a renovated lobby area
