An East Lansing Public Schools' millage proposal was narrowly approved by voters, while a millage renewal for Haslett Public Schools passed with nearly 85% of voters supporting the proposal.

East Lansing's $93.7 million proposal will fund construction of five new elementary schools as well as renovations to Red Cedar Elementary.

Each of the district's five existing elementary schools will be rebuilt on the same sites beginning with Donley Elementary.  Each new elementary school will support approximately 290 students.

Red Cedar will initially be reopened and used as a swing school to house students displaced by construction.  The Lansing State Journal has more information.
