According to WILX-TV 10, Dr. Rachel Lawson of the Chesapeake Veterinary Clinic, says the heat can be just as dangerous for pets as kids.  She has several tips to keep your pet or pets safe.

For example:  Pets can get burnt, just like you, especially if they have white fur or closely shaven.

Lawson recommends walking pets early in the morning or in the evening and avoiding the sun during the middle of the day.  She also says to watch out for exhaustion and dehydration.

You definitely want to always provide clean fresh water for your pets, shade, especially if there's no breezes, you can always put a fan outside and have a fan for your pet.
