You have to admit, watching MSU basketball has been very exciting this season.  One of the reasons for great basketball is MSU's Denzel Valentine.  The Michigan State senior was named Big Ten Player of the Year, in both media and coaches voting.

Valentine is the eighth MSU player to win the award, and the fifth player under coach Tom Izzo.   Two other MSU seniors were honored, with guard Bryn Forbes making the media and coaches All Big Ten second team, and center Matt Costello making the media second team and the coaches third team.

Denzel Valentine is having one of the great individual seasons in MSU history.  He is averaging 19.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists for the No. 2 Spartans.

According to the Lansing State Journal, the Spartans start Big Ten tournament play Friday in Indianapolis against No. 7 seed Ohio State or No. 10 seed Penn State.
