After standing for nearly 100 years, the former Dansville Middle School was being torn down on Monday by construction workers with their intent on bringing it down.

The building is being razed following voter approval of a millage in 2016, which is funding the demolition as well as the construction of a new high school.

Close to 800 people came out to the district's farewell event for the middle school on Memorial Day.

A bell that is at least as old as the middle school was removed and will ring again from a bell tower at the new high school.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
