Many people in our area enjoy local programming and I'm one of them.  I've had Dish Network for quite some time in the Okemos area, but now there's a good possibility I will be canceling Dish Network if they remove CBS affiliate WLNS from programming.

The contract dispute between Media General and Dish Network is a common occurrence in the industry.  Generally it's a money issue and we the customers end up losing local channels that give us some of our favorite programs.

Lansing area DISH subscribers could lose access to WLNS as early as 7 p.m. tonight if the dispute isn't resolved.

It's bad enough that DISH Network recently removed WLAJ from their satellite service.  That happened back in December and thoroughly upset me and so many other viewers in our area.

One show we can't watch any longer is Dancing with the Stars because we lost the ABC affiliate WLAJ because of another contract dispute.

Tonight at 7 p.m. I will check to see if DISH Network removes WLNS from the program package that we have at our home in Okemos.  If they remove WLNS, I will remove Dish Network permanently.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
