Lansing's mail processing center will close in the spring as part of the U.S. Postal Service's consolidation of Michigan distribution operations.

The consolidation involves moving mail processing work from the Collins Road facility in Lansing to Grand Rapids by April 2015.

Postal Service officials would not say how many people work at the Collins Road site but 200 Lansing area employees were expected to be affected when the consolidation plan was first announced in 2011.

The Postal Service also plans to close centers in the Gaylord, Saginaw and Iron Mountain areas.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
