Like many others in the area, I'm bummed - and maybe a little ticked off - that Clara's Restaurant (637 E. Michigan Avenue) closed down...that was a great place with good food and wonderful atmosphere...plus the rumor that it was haunted didn't hurt one bit!

My question to you is: what can that building be used for now? How can it be put to good use? I can't fathom anyone in their right mind wanting to tear it down, since it's an historic building.

A stock answer would be to put in another restaurant…but what else?

There are PLENTY of things that it can been used for.

According to the March 1 edition of citypulse.com, the former Clara's has been purchased by the Gillespie Group development company, and an announcement is said to be forthcoming on what they plan to do with it.

But what would YOU - the public who will support the business with your patronage - like to see the former Clara's turn into? Make your voices heard!

Does anyone have thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
