According to the Lansing State Journal, Capital Region International Airport plans to use nearly $5 million in federal money to improve its cargo-handling capabilities.

The $4.9 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport improvement Program will greatly assist the airport in expanding it's paved area for aircraft parking and the loading and unloading of cargo.

"The new pavement is critical to meeting the growing demands in moving air cargo into and out of Mid-Michigan," Wayne Sieloff, president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Authority, said in a prepared statement.
