August is the perfect month to get outdoors in Michigan.  The fact that August is the last full month of summer is just one more reason to savor the season.  Here are several events to choose from in the month of August.

Biking and wine unite at the annual Pedal and Whine Bike Tour.  The event takes riders and tasters throughout eastern Jackson Country, in the area surrounding Grass Lake, on Aug. 6 with a trip to Sandhill Crane.

How about attending Michigan State University Museum's Great Lakes Folk Festival Aug. 12 through 14 in downtown East Lansing.   Check out local and national folk talent, arts and crafts, storytelling and more.

More summer fun can be had at the annual Michigan Pirate Festival Aug. 8 through 14 in Grand Haven.  Pirate reenactments, mermaids, cannons and more.

If you have a pet worth the royal treatment, then take them to Michigan Renaissance Festival's Royal Pet & Ale Fest, which happens Aug. 20 and 21 at the Michigan Renaissance Festival Fairgrounds in Holly, Michigan.  You can enter your pet, in a pet costume contest and there's so much more during the month of August.  Click here on the Lansing State Journal.
