An Italian marble cross which weighs over one thousand pounds is visible under the ice in Petoskey.   It is a wonderful site to see, last weekend over 1,100 people made the trek on the frozen water to see it.

The cross is there the honour those that have died while diving.   It had been moved around a bit, but came to its final resting place in Petoskey back in the early 1980's.

You can view the cross yourself on the ice off Bayfront Park in Petoskey, but weather conditions and ice conditions can change that.  A tent with a viewing port will be set up from 11am until 6pm Saturday.

It seems to be a very personal event for every single person who looks down through the viewing ports.
