Explorer Post 1225 is hosting a free open house at Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso on Saturday May 2nd from 10am to 5pm and Sunday May 3rd from 11am to 4pm.Everyone is invited to come and learn more about Explorer Post 1225 and how to get involved or volunteer.  Young adults, ages 14 to 20, can join the group that operates the lounge car during 1225 trips, including the North Pole Express; learn what it takes to keep the Pere Marquette 1225 operating and get hands on with it and become a part of history as Explorers Post 1225 restores the Mississippian #76 Steam locomotive along with other historic rail equipment.

If you have an interest in welding, fabrication, painting, wood working, operations of a railroad, business management or customer service, then there's a place for you within the group.

At the free open house, enjoy cab tours of the Pere Marquette 1225, a Great Lakes Central locomotive, a caboose, sleeper car, lounge car and coach cars.  Mississippian #76 will be on display and Flagg Coal #75 will be under operation in the yard.  Plus, there will be miniature train rides for all ages.
