A Very Popular Golfer Linked To Illegal Gambling
He is the Pro Golfer that everyone loves, he always takes time out to chat with his fans and is always so polite, but now ESPN's Outside the Line has linked golfer Phil Mickelson with a nearly $3 million dollar sports-betting scheme that is tied to an "illegal gambling operation".
Stories of Phil and gambling have been around for awhile, but this one is BIG. Nearly $3 million dollars transferred from golfer Phil Mickelson to an intermediary was all part of "an illegal gambling operation which accepted and placed bets on sporting events.
Mickelson, who is a five time major winner and one of the PGA tour's wealthiest and most popular players, has not been charged with a crime and is not under federal investigation.
A former sports gambling handicapper, pleaded guilty last week for laundering approximately $2.75million dollars that two sources say belonged to Mickelson.
We will have to see how this plays out.
